Physical Therapy Evaluation

Your first visit with us is called an evaluation. This is where we get to know you—your story, your goals, and what’s been going on with your body.

During the evaluation, your physical therapist will:
1. Listen to your concerns – We’ll talk about your symptoms, daily activities, medical history, and what you’re hoping to achieve.
2. Check how your body moves – We may look at your posture, flexibility, strength, balance, and how you move during certain tasks.
3. Perform gentle hands-on assessments – We may use our hands to check muscle or joint function and feel for areas of tightness, weakness, or pain.
4. Create a personalized plan – Based on what we find, we’ll explain what’s going on and work with you to develop a plan that fits your lifestyle and goals.
You’ll leave your first visit with a clear understanding of what’s next and what we’ll do together to help you feel better, move better, and get back to doing what you love.

Pelvic Floor Therapy Evaluation

Your first visit with us is called an evaluation. This is where we get to know you—your story, your goals, and what’s been going on with your body.

During the evaluation, your physical therapist will:
1. Listen to your concerns – We’ll talk about your symptoms, daily activities, medical history, and what you’re hoping to achieve.
2. Check how your body moves – We may look at your posture, flexibility, strength, balance, and how you move during certain tasks.
3. Perform gentle hands-on assessments – We may use our hands to check muscle or joint function and feel for areas of tightness, weakness, or pain.
 4. Gently evaluate the pelvic floor muscles – With your consent, this may include an internal exam (vaginal or rectal) to assess muscle strength, coordination, and tension. This is always optional, done in a private, respectful setting, and explained fully beforehand.

If you’re dealing with pelvic organ prolapse or urinary leaking, a pessary can be a helpful, non-surgical option for support and relief. A pessary is a small, soft device worn in the vagina to help support your pelvic organs—and many people find it makes a big difference in comfort and confidence. We will trial a variety of pessary shapes and sizes in addition to teaching you how to independently insert and remove your pessary for improved confidence.

Functional Medicine Evaluation

A functional medicine visit is all about getting to the root cause of your symptoms—not just treating them, but understanding why they’re happening in the first place.

During your appointment, we take the time to look at the whole picture of your health: your lifestyle, nutrition, stress, sleep, environment, and more. This is a deep dive into you—not just your diagnosis.

Here’s what the visit may include:

  • A detailed conversation – We’ll talk about your health history, current concerns, and even things like digestion, hormones, energy, mood, and immune function. Everything is connected, and your story matters.

  • Review of labs or recommendations for testing – We may look at any recent labs you’ve had or recommend specialty testing (like gut health, hormones, or nutrient levels) to help guide your care.

  • Personalized wellness plan – Based on your goals and what we learn, we’ll create a plan that may include nutrition guidance, targeted supplements, lifestyle shifts, stress management, and collaboration with your other providers if needed.

  • Support between visits – Healing is a process, and we’re here to guide you along the way. We’ll check in, adjust your plan as needed, and celebrate your progress.

Blood Flow Restriction Training

Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training is a safe and effective technique that helps you build strength and muscle—without putting too much stress on your joints or healing tissues. It’s especially helpful during recovery from injury or surgery, or when traditional strength training isn’t possible.

During your BFR session, here’s what you can expect:

  • We’ll start with education – We’ll explain how BFR works and why it might be a good fit for your rehab or fitness goals. You’ll have a chance to ask questions so you feel totally comfortable before we begin
  • A personalized setup – We use a specialized cuff (similar to a blood pressure cuff) that is placed on your arm or leg. This gently restricts blood flow to the working muscles during your exercises.
  • Guided exercise session – You’ll perform low-load strength exercises (using light weights or resistance) while the cuff is in place. This creates the same benefits as heavier lifting—without the strain.
  • Safety and comfort first – Your physical therapist closely monitors you throughout the session to make sure the pressure, movements, and intensity are safe and appropriate for your body.
  •
  • BFR is a powerful tool to help you recover faster, build strength sooner, and get back to doing what you love—with less pain and fewer setbacks.

Medical Massage/Body Work Session

Medical massage is more than just relaxation—it’s a focused, therapeutic approach designed to help you heal, reduce pain, and improve how your body moves and feels.

Unlike a spa massage, medical massage is part of your care plan and tailored specifically to your needs, whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing chronic tension, or dealing with pain related to posture, surgery, or stress.

A medical massage/body work session may include soft tissue massage, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, cupping, dry needling, joint mobilization or manipulation. An entire session dedicated to targeted hands on manual therapy provided by your Doctor of Physical Therapy.

Lymphedema Management

Complete decongestive therapy (CDT) aims to reduce swelling, increase mobility, improve skin conditions, while also reducing the risk for infection. CDT consists of manual lymphatic drainage (a light manual technique that helps to move excess lymph and fluid out of the tissues and back into the vessels), compression bandages (layered bandaging and foam or specially fitted garments with graded compression to help control swelling), exercises, skin care, and self-care management.
